ACCESSIBILITY APARTMENT
The apartment is located in the ancient borgo (village) of Pognana Lario; a borgo is not accessible for a car which means that you cannot get to the house by car. Sometimes this can be uncomfortable, but on the other hand it is very authentic and guaranteed it will give you a truly Italian feeling! From the communal car park it is a 5-minute walk to the apartment. The paved path is slightly rising, than there are two steps to reach the apartment. It is not very hard but please keep this in mind (ie, use suitcases with wheels, so you can easily roll the suitcase). ACCESSIBILITY HOTSPOTS LAKESIDE Along the lake you can drive easily by car, bus and boat. In terms of public transport, all the villages around the lake are easy to reach. In and around Pognana Lario there are also various hotspots within walking distance. A trip around the lake by boat is an absolute must; you can get an actualised time table for the boat times at the Alimentari (little shop) on the main road, across Pepe’s bar near the car park. PRACTICAL Arrival / Key Please note that without any further notice, the standard arrival time will be after 15.00 o’clock. When you are approx. half an hour away from Pognana Lario (just before you enter Como), please send a text message to our key keeper, Micki. In Pognana Lario, she will meet you at the parking lot, at the bottom of the village. Micki will walk with you to the house and show you where can find anything. Upon arrival, please pay the 50,- Euro fee (linen package, cleaning) to Micky in cash. Linen package Upon arrival the bed linen is clean and the bed is made (bedroom). It is a double bed; the extra bed is in the living room. The sofa can be used as a bed (take of the sofa cushions and the sofa cover) or you can use the red "table / pouf", which is a bed that you can pull out (take the red cover off and you can see how the mechanism works). The bed linen for this extra bed (matrass cover and duvet + cover) will be at your disposal for you in the main bedroom, as well as towels and wash cloths. Kitchen towel and tea towel are in the kitchen. Departure When you depart, please lay the used linen (bed linen, towels etc.) in the red basket. You don’t need to clean the house, because that is (together with the linen package) in the 50,- Euro fee that you pay to Micki upon arrival. However, please make sure that the dishes are done (plates, cups etc. is clean), and that the garbage is taken out. You can find garbage bags in the red Ikea cabinet. Full bags, empty bottles and cardboard can be place in the different collection containers of the village (on the main road, just at the bottom of the steps). When you depart, please leave the key in the letterbox (near the grey gate) and send Micki a text message so she knows that she can collect the key. Provisions Standard there are some provisions, like: tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, flat water, sparkling water, white wine and two bottle of red wine. When you finish one or more of these items, please make sure to replace them. Other provisions can be found in the white cabinet below the window. You can freely make use of these; these are leftovers from previous guests. When you depart, please make sure that you do not leave things in the fridge or in the cabinet that are open! Only provisions with a longer live span (so no fresh foods/drinks, no open bottles / cans) are allowed to be left in the apartment when you depart. PLEASE NOTE Door and key … The house has two front doors, hence two keys: one for the metallic gate and one for the wooden door. Please note, that when you close the wooden door, it standard falls in to its lock! Meaning, when you go outside on the terrace, you either should always keep your key with you, or you should NOT close the wooden door or else you will lock yourself out..! Important numbers: Keykeeper Micki (txt message half an hour prior to arrival) :xxxxxx House owners Simone and Reinder (to contact owners): xxxx Route, landmarks, parking, and finding the apartment The road to Pognana Lario along the lake (from Como) is narrow and can be busy, especially in high season. So, beware that you do not drive too fast and pay attention to oncoming traffic, be on your guard, especially with busses and trucks. Tip: if you're not familiar with this area, make sure you arrive by daylight. For directions to the car park at the bottom of the borgo, enter the following address into the navigation system: Via Giacomo Matteotti 28 (22020 Pognana Lario CO). There are two parking lots where you can park: immediately on the right (at the bottom of the official steps to the borgo, a couple of parking places), or a few yards on the left side (lake side) at the official car park (a bit bigger). When you have passed Pepe’s bar on the left hand, you are too far… you have passed the parking lot, so please make a save u turn further along. Please note: your 'key keeper' Micky will meet you at the parking lot, and brings you to the house. For reaching the apartment, there are two ways, both only by foot. The first (easy) route is to walk back along the road, over the bridge, and then catch up Via Sigiano (on your left, up). This rises gradually. After entry No. 4 (type 'cave'), you will see after a few meters on your left a green gate and on the right you will see a green lamppost. On your right there is a small stone staircase. Go up here and you'll come to a large wooden door. You open the door and walk inside (light works on movement) and walk upwards (staircase), pass a large wine barrel, than follow the staircase upwards and pass another large wine barrel. At the top you logically follow your way around the corner, where you see at the end of the corridor a large wooden door. These doors you open and you're standing outside on a patio area. Go right, just a few steps, and then you see the door of the apartment, on the right: No. 6. The other route (right at the car park, via the official steps) is also possible but a bit more effort (it’s steeper, which is fine if you go down or if you have time to climb the stairs on an easy pace). So you take the big official steps (in the parking lot) to the hamlet. At the junction, turn briefly left (Via Sigiano) and take immediate right up the steps further up (keep right by 'tunnel), then bear right (Via Antonio) and then you walk right up against the iron gate with a mailbox to (privato) - these are a few steps down - and you can see the front door with a red mat before: # 6! |
